TCAT-Shelbyville’s Industrial Electricity students compete in Ideal Industries National Electricians’ Championship competition. The competition was created by Ideal Industries to showcase the abilities of electrical professionals, apprentices and students from across the country.
Electrical professionals, apprentices and students can participate as individuals or members of a team of three in one of many first round competitions being held at electrical distributors, trade schools and other organizations across the United States.
Contestants need to demonstrate both their problem-solving and physical skills in four categories: wire cutting, stripping, termination and testing through a multi-station speed test judged by the fastest completion time and overall accuracy of the wire connection.
The top professional and top student from each territory will advance to the Championship Weekend which will be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on November 10-11, 2017. The top five national professional teams and top five national student teams, will advance to the Championship Weekend’s Team Final on Friday, November 10, 2017. Each of the Championship Finalist will receive a 13-piece IDEAL® Took kit with a retail value of $350. The prize for the National Student Champion is $30,000 and a trophy and the prize for the National Team Champions is $30,000 (to be divided among the team) and a trophy.
