James Berdet Brown Memorial Scholarship

James Berdet Brown passed away unexpectedly in January of 2015 following a brief illness at the age of 47.  A kind, generous, and fun-loving person, James enjoyed living in Nashville for the last 15 years of his life.  Ten of those years, James worked as an unemployment claims agent with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  He was beloved by his co-workers and known for this sense of humor and the thoughtful way he cared about those filing for unemployment.  He also enjoyed working part-time for Contemporary Services Corporation event security for many entertainment and sporting events in Nashville.  The James Berdet Brown Memorial Scholarship was founded by James' sister Kathy-Jo Brown Hayden and her husband Lee Hayden to carry on James' legacy of encouraging others and helping those in need.
